BJP sponsor Ben at the World Championships

BJPs newest recruit, Ben Gudzelak, was recently made joint captain of the GB team attending the Senior Padel World Championships in La Nucia from Monday 15th – Saturday 20th April 2024

Padel has recently been taken under the wing of the LTA, and while there is some organisational resource given to Padel, there has been very limited financial contribution given to the GB senior padel team from the LTA. All the members of the team, therefore, have to self-fund the trips to any of the events. With travel, accommodation, food and practice courts etc the cost per player is expected to be ~£1,500 for the upcoming World Championships.

BJP have agreed to contribute £500 towards expenses and given 2 days annual leave back to Ben to support his efforts at the World Championships.

“This is a really generous contribution from BJP, having just been with the company for a few months this is also very unexpected. It shows what a considerate employer they are. We have been training hard in preparation and will do our best while at the World Championships. The standard is extremely high with 24 teams in the main draw this year as opposed to the usual 16. If we could end up in the top half that would be an amazing result, though in previous years we have been fighting for the lower positions in the rankings. Wherever we finish I will be ensuring the team works together, supports each other and give our best efforts, but will make sure we enjoy the experience and have fun as well.

- Ben Gudzelak
